Officers celebrate Neighbourhood Policing Week |
||
The Welwyn Hatfield Neighbourhood Policing Team were as busy as ever during Neighbourhood Policing Week. The week of celebration ran nationally from Monday 23 to Sunday 29 June and aimed to put a spotlight on the important work of these officers. Neighbourhood policing is a specialism which sees teams of officers, staff and volunteers striving to deliver a first-class service, keeping people safe and improving their quality of life. It helps to build trust, reduce and prevent crime, and improve public confidence in policing. By working closely with residents and partners, Neighbourhood Policing Teams can and do resolve issues that can blight lives such as anti-social behaviour, speeding, drug crime, shoplifting, and fly-tipping. As traditional ‘bobbies on the beat’, the team attend various community events to meet residents and build up their trust. Across the week the team were busy carrying out a number of community engagement and crime-fighting initiatives, as well as making arrests. Highlights included: Inspector Amy Sheldon, who leads the Welwyn Hatfield Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “My officers carry out lots of great work to keep Welwyn Hatfield safe and we enjoyed taking part in this national campaign to highlight the importance of neighbourhood policing. “A key part of neighbourhood policing is community engagement. It’s important that we get out and about to meet the public and we always welcome invites to any community events you may be hosting. If you have an event you’d like us to attend, please email us at welwynhatfield@herts.police.uk.” Let us know what you think we should be prioritising in your area.
